- Librarian’s Report – Logan presented a written report and schedule for the library usage.
- Logan mentioned that the library hosted another full crochet class.
- Logan also advised that our e-rate (for phones and internet) has not been certified yet. Apparently, library approval is tied to local school district approval, and RCCU1 is currently under review. Logan has contacted the district and been referred to Ryan
Roark, who has not yet returned Logan’s calls. This is a significant savings for the library each year, so Logan will continue to try to find the status of RCCU1’s application and review. - Logan was asked to perform some detailed door counts on Saturdays and after 5pm to see if the hours the library are currently open are the most effective.
- Correspondence/Communication/Public Relations – N/A
- Old Business
- Intergovernmental Agreement – Logan presented the trustees with the past intergovernmental agreement. Crystal Trout made a motion to renew the agreement with all schools in the RCCU1 district. Audra Clodfelter seconded the motion. Measure carried.
- The trustees discussed what could be done to extend an agreement to St. Joe, Full Armor and River of Grace Schools as well as homeschool families. It was decided that Logan is going to write an “organizational agreement” for said schools for library services. He will review with the policy committee before presenting at the next meeting. Homeschool children will be referred to the Cards for Kids Act to qualify for free library cards.
- We currently have 213 free student cards issued and we have 45 non-resident children who
are paying for cards.
- New Business
- Summer Reading Program Review – Logan presented a written report of the program. Notable statistics: 654 people attended the summer reading program during the 7 events that were held; 71.1% of attendance was at special program, the remainder was at “story hour”; 81 children completed the reading challenge and received gifts for their success.
- Board Office Resignation/Nomination – Following the last board meeting, President Julia Eichhorst asked VP Rachel Kinkade if she would be willing to step into the president position as Julia is too busy at this time. Rachel agreed and effective immediately has been serving as president. Leaving the position open for vice-president, nominations were taken from the group, and Audra Clodfelter agreed to serve in the position. A unanimous yes vote by the trustees confirmed her position. Janilyn Travis is going to have the signature cards changed at FNB and let the executive committee know when they are ready to be signed.
- Committee assignments were reviewed and William Alexander will be stepping into the committees/positions formerly held by Derek Mason.
- Review Chapter 8 Information Services: Logan presented the information to the trustees. At this time, we are following short on the state goal of “seeking to eliminate barriers to services and information access (ex. fines and fees, age restrictions) The board suggested that as a means for eliminating fines, the library contact patrons before a book becomes due or immediately after through email, text, etc.
